Save Energy and Save Money
Hot summer days are when most people have their AC on, ceiling fans running and anything else that will help keep them comfortable. This places a high demand on Clarke Electric's system and can cost more to generate electricity during peak periods.
Peak hours generally happen on the hottest summer days between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. You can help peak hours by shifting the timing of your power use and by following some of these tips:
- Shift household chores away from peak hours.
- Run appliances during early-morning or late-evening hours.
- Close your drapes or blinds, especially west facing windows.
- Move the thermostat on your AC up a few degrees during peak times.
- Turn off any unneeded lights and electronics.
- When replacing old appliances be sure to replace them with Energy Star labeled appliances.
